Happy Birthday, Henry!!

Henry turned four on Friday and we had a wonderful day celebrating his birthday. Leading up to the big day when you asked Henry if he was excited to turn four his response would be, “I’m scared to turn four”. He then said that he is going to keep pretending to be three. After his birthday, I have yet to hear him say he wants to be three. I think he is pretty excited to be four. In the afternoon we had neighborhood kids over and a friend from school over for cake and ice cream. Meema, Boopa, Gramma, Grampa, Aunt Laura, and Aunt Ashlee all came as well. It was a full house and he loved it. All he wanted was people to sing him happy birthday. This is the smile he had on his face:

Just melts my heart!

Here’s a bit of what he’s up to at four:
  • Still a dancing/dress up machine. He loves dressing up and dancing to any kind of music.
  • Counting. He counts everything and anything.
  • A little builder. Legos are now a big thing with him and he loves constructing towers.
  • Trains. He had a Thomas the Train birthday party and loved having his trains out and moving on the floor.
  • True enthusiasm about everything.
  • At bedtime he insists on have two nightlights and his nightstand light on or else he won’t sleep.
  • Finally getting into things he likes versus what Claire likes. It’s been fun seeing his interests grow.
It was so much fun celebrating Henry’s birthday!
Here are a few pictures of Cameron since he is a growing machine right now:

The older kids are really into something called fuse beads that Claire got for her birthday. Claire especially. She is insisting on making one creation for all of her classmates. Henry likes them too, but only lasts about five minutes.

*We just got back from Henry's four year well check and he is still our big guy! 3 feet 8 inches tall (99th percentile) and 42 lbs (90th percentile).

Busy, Busy!

It’s amazing how busy days can feel yet we haven’t gone anywhere or really done anything. Three kids definitely keep us busy! First up, we had Meema visiting for a few days and she got her Cameron snuggle time:

Then both Paul and I have had our share of Cameron snuggles as well since he is happiest being help (is he a newborn??):

Then we have started our birthday season in our house with mine first, then Claire’s. Claire has been so excited to turn six and yesterday we celebrated her birthday with a few of her school friends. She insisted on a Frozen party and it was fun having her friends over to play for a bit.

Henry was my helper with decorating:

Claire at six is fun, but definitely still challenging.

  • She is loving reading, writing, and making books for her classmates and friends.
  • Still constant questions about everything and curious about so much.
  • She is still our little style queen with having no input from anyone about what to wear.
  • Her compassion hasn’t change and she is so caring for animals and people close to her.
  • Miss Negotiator. Always, all the time. Everything is up for negotiation.
  • Claire loves playing “school” with Henry and pretending to go through a school day with him.

Today Cameron is one month old! Yay! One month in the newborn stage is done. Don’t worry, I love the cuddles and snuggles of a newborn, but I do love my sleep which is not happening right now.

Here’s a bit of what little Cam is up to:

  • More awake periods. He is actually awake a lot of the time during the day and enjoys taking small naps. Thankfully he’s pretty content when he’s awake.
  • Big guy. He is in three month clothing and even those are fitting just right. He is a long guy!
  • Starting to smile a little bit. It’s cute. He will hold his head up and give us little smiles.
  • He had a four hour stretch of sleeping last night! Wa-hoo! I feel so refreshed. Ha. Hopefully it continues.
  • Hiccups, hiccups all the time!

As busy and chaotic as it has been, we’ve loved adjusting to being a family of five!
