Spring Is Here!

Trees in bloom, freshly cut grass, and 75+ degree weather means misery in the Koch household. Everyone but me suffers from seasonal allergies. It has been a lot of sleepless nights. I thought Oregon allergies were bad, but it pretty much matches the misery here. Of course it all happened at the same time that Paul was gone on a couple of work trips. I have been drinking way too much coffee. Thankfully it’s getting better and we’ve had rain to tame the pollen.  The poor kids still look like they are going to fall asleep at any point with their puffy eyes. Luckily, Gramma and Grampa are coming tomorrow for a long visit to let us catch up on sleep.

Dinner Prep

Here is a look into what it was like to make dinner tonight:

IMG_7439A pre-dinner snack that Claire found when I opened the pantry. There is a reason why I have child locks on those doors; just try taking food away from Claire…just try. Henry is trying to organize the drawers.

Claire making silly faces. Henry then following her lead and does some razzing:

Some drawing and more organizing:

Henry then has a mini-breakdown and realizes I am not holding him:

Claire tried a snack (notice the random pear in the pot) while Henry’s pants decided they no longer needed to stay up. They must have gotten tired from all of his reorganizing:

Phew. I’m tired. That was 15 minutes. Did I mention that I was only making mac and cheese? Paul is out of town this week so we are super low key for meals. I’m eating cereal most nights. I figure the kids could eat something a little more normal. Bedtime for me and it’s only eight.

Climbing, Climbing, Everywhere!

Henry has developed a new skill-climbing. The problem with this new skill is he can only climb one item in our house; a chair.  The only way he can climb the chair is when the cushion is off. When the cushion is on, we hear a frustrated Henry. Claire’s favorite new toy is the chair as well. Funny how that works.

The next challenge is getting the kids to smile at the same time.

Good Morning, Sunshine!

It is fair to say our children are not morning people, let alone like being woken up when not ready. I believe they get that trait from their father… The time change has not been our friend the last few days. Claire has decided to wake up at 5am the past few mornings(isn’t that backwards??), and trying to get the kids to bed while it is still light has been a bit of a struggle. Paul and I have been walking around like zombies even more than usual. On the bright side, it is has been gorgeous here this week and we have been outside whenever we can!

IMG_7007The represents how we have been feeling the last few days. Like how nicely Mickey is tucked in?IMG_7143

I think Henry is wondering why he is even awake…

Sunday Happenings

It was sunny today, so we spent some time outside:

We attempted to Skype outside, it worked OK:

It was then time to “garden”, maybe they’ll have more of a green thumb than I do:

Later Henry decided to help out with the dishes:

This is when he figured out his socks were getting wet:
