Yo Gabba Gabba

Yesterday, Paul and I took Claire to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live in Charlotte. For those of you who don’t know about Yo Gabba Gabba, it is basically a phsychadelic trip for preschoolers.  When kids watch it, it is like they are in a trance.  Anyways, it was a really fun show and Paul and I enjoyed ourselves. Now Claire on the other hand, didn’t really know what to think. Right after it started she stated, “I want to go home.” After the initial fear of her favorite TV characters coming to life, the show then did a skit with this:

That is Rufus, the Charlotte Bobcats' mascot. Seriously? Does he look preschool-friendly to you? Thankfully, he frightened Paul and I more than Claire.  Overall the show was a lot of fun and afterwards we went to dinner with her. It was a lot of fun to have a “Claire date” and Claire keeps talking about what she did yesterday. (A note with the pictures, Claire does not like getting her picture taken. So to get a nice one of her is almost impossible!)

Waiting for the show to start(at first I think she believed the music playing was the show.):

Eight Months and Four Years

IMG_5593

Happy Eight Months Henry!

Here are a few things that he has been up to lately:

  • Crawling still with his one leg pushing the other.
  • Pulling up and moving along furniture.
  • Starting to let go and stand to reach something.
  • Eating any type of finger-foods and not interesting at all in being fed.
  • Babbling away.
  • Stealing all of Claire’s toys.
  • Still not sleeping through the night. Still waiting…

Also, Happy Anniversary to Paul! I think he would agree that it’s been the most crazy, unpredictable, and challenging four years. It has also been the most rewarding and fun. Love you, Babe!

Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend we did what everyone else was doing and went to our local pumpkin patch. I think the whole Lake Norman area was in attendance. It was gorgeous weather and a lot of fun. Claire loved picking out pumpkins and she has assigned them to each member of the family. At some point during the day we all must sit and look at the pumpkins at our front step. Of course, being me, I left the memory card at home so no pictures. Thankfully our friends who we went with took a photo of us. Unfortunately Henry isn’t looking but I won’t complain, we don’t have many photos of all four of us!

Farm Day

Claire’s school had a farm day this morning.  Parents were invited to join in on the fun so I spent the morning doing really fun kid activities. It was a blast and we wish Paul could have joined in, we missed him.

Recharge

Paul and I were able to spend the weekend in upstate New York to attend a wedding for our good friends.(Thanks, Meema and Boopa!!). The wedding was at a mountain resort and in order to attend the ceremony, guests had to ride the chairlift. A little unnerving at first without at any snow, but it was fun. The weather could not have been better. One of my favorite things of living in Ithaca was the fall weather, it can’t be beat. We had a great time seeing the area and catching up with friends. Now it is back to the reality of  two kids. Congrats to Jay and Amber!!IMG_5506 IMG_5520 IMG_5525

Human Jungle-Gym

Whenever Paul or I lay down on the floor at any point during the day you can bet there will be a child who takes this opportunity to use us as their playground. Majority of the time it is Paul, since he doesn’t mind getting kicked and punched in the stomach as much as I do. I think after two pregnancies in three years my insides have had enough beatings for awhile. Today while I was playing with the kids I happened to have the camera with me, so I thought a few pictures from my perspective during the jungle-gym experience would be fun.

There’s No Place Like Home

The last two weeks we have been in Oregon. Well, I should say the kids and I have been in Oregon but Paul has been in CA, OR, and WA for work with little breaks to say, “Hi!”,  here and there.  It was a wonderful visit. We were even able to make it up to Walla Walla to visit my family. As much as we love our life in Charlotte, whenever we make it back to Oregon we realize it is such a beautiful place. Here are a few things we miss about Eugene:
  • Family
  • Harley
  • Childhood friends
  • UO football and how all of Eugene shuts down during a game.
  • No humidity when it is 90 degrees
  • Cafe Yumm (Paul)
  • Mucho Gusto (Kelli)
  • No mosquitoes
  • Mountains
I could go on but I will save some more for later.  Here are a few pictures from our visit.
