Now You See Him, Now You Don't.
Henry has become quite an efficient crawler lately. He is now realizing there are other rooms in the house that I go to besides the living area. If I leave the room, he begins his slow, but effective crawl to find me. It consists of him getting into a crawling position, putting one leg up, bent, and pushing off to move forward. Kind of like pushing a scooter on your hands. Claire thinks he is pretty funny and has now invented a chasing game where she runs and yells for him to follow. She gets bored when she realizes it will take him about five minutes to get across the room. We are putting up the gates this weekend. So much for a late mover.

Six Months
Happy Six Months Henry!
The pictures were quite a challenge since now he is grabbing everything and wanting to crawl everywhere.
Henry had his six month appointment the other day. Here are his stats:
18lbs-60th percentile
28inches-97th percentile
We have a linebacker on our hands. Hopefully he chooses not to play football, I would panic. Here are a few things he has been doing over the last few weeks:
He now can get to a sitting position by himself, but sometimes he falls backwards so we have to watch where he is around the house.
Whenever a toy is out of reach he will do his version of crawling and scoot/crawl to the toy. It might take him five minutes to move two feet, but he is determined! Claire is now learning quickly to keep her toys out of reach from him.
He enjoys watching the cats walk by and grab chunks of fur if he can. I find that pretty funny. If you have heard how I feel about the cats, you know they drive me crazy and I don't know why I thought I was a cat person.
Sleeping is getting better and he only wakes up once most nights, now if only we can convince him that 3am-5am is not an appropriate time to be awake.
He LOVES the jumparoo and is a crazy baby jumping around in it.
Solid food is his favorite and could care less about milk so I have to force it down.
He is such a happy little guy and absolutely adores Claire. Thankfully she thinks he is pretty neat too.

The West Coast is the Best Coast.
Paul and I spent this past weekend in Pasadena. One of Paul's classmate/friend from Cornell got married and it was absolutely beautiful. The second we stepped off the plane I realized how much I miss west coast weather. No humidity, cool summer nights, and amazing sunsets. Paul and I enjoyed a weekend without kids(thanks Mee-ma and Boo-pa!). We laid by the pool, read, and caught up on sleep. It was great. Today it is back to the reality of two kids, but we sure did miss them!

"Biiiiiggggg Boo Boo"
Claire got her first big injury or as she calls it, "biiiigggg boo boo". Poor little girl. We were having a battle of wills regarding a time out and in the middle of her getting up for the 100th time, she slipped and hit her head on the wall. No more time out after that. It left quite the little bump. When I ask her how her bump is, she says, "I got a big boo boo and bumped on wall. I need to sit down." Aw, can't be mad at that.
Excuse Me, You Have Something On Your Face.
Lunch time in the Koch household: Claire, who painted her face with finger paint and Henry, who is finally getting the hang of solids.
Funny story about the highchair: One of our neighbors moved a few weeks ago and in the moving process began putting things to the curb for people to take. Since we aren't allowed to have yard sales(silly), it became quite a game with all of the neighbors as to who would get to their items first. They would leave out all sorts of nice things from furniture to yard items, and other random household things. Our other neighbor happened to tell us that there was a highchair that was left out. We had to leave our highchair in Oregon because it didn't fit in the truck. I wasn't planning on getting one, but this one is pretty much brand new. It's crazy all the nice stuff these people put out for free. Lucky for us we got a nice highchair!

"Mama, flap!!!"
Now picture a two year old saying that at the top of her little lungs. Imagine that ALL the time. I believe that Claire in entering her bossy stage. She only speaks in commands. Thankfully, most of time when reminding her, she will say please at the end. At least she is a polite, bossy little girl. The above phrase refers to what she says when she puts on Henry's pajamas. Every time Claire sees Henry's red striped pajamas she must put them on and she will not take them off until bedtime when we have to pry them off of her. I have NO idea where she gets all her stubbornness.
