Big Day!

 

It was a very exciting, early morning for our house. The kids started new schools! Claire woke up at 4:30 asking about the bus and then at 6:13 was downstairs, dressed with teeth brushed for her 7:10 bus. We ended up waking Henry up so that he didn’t get upset waking up to an empty house. Here is Claire with our neighborhood kids waiting for the bus. I think it helped her transition greatly.

   

I figured this would be a good time to update what she is up to/likes:

• Still so independent. She loves to ride her bike by herself with our neighbors. Also, when play, she always asks for her “privacy” so she can play by herself.
• Becoming a bit of a daredevil. She likes to play on the bar on our swingset. She hangs with no hands, sits on top of the bar, and makes me incredibly nervous.
• Such a second mom. She now has a baby doll that she pretends is her sister that she needs to take care of. She feeds it, has a bed for her, and takes her everywhere.
• She loves to tell stories. While telling stories she uses her body constantly. Hand motions, eyes with expression, and head tilted. Pretty cute.
• Still a leader and rule setter. Thankfully, she has found a nice balance with friends and doesn’t appear too bossy and will listen to her friends.
• She is very reserved in new situations. While meeting her Kindergarten teacher she hid behind me and was very quiet. After she assess the situation she opens up and becomes very talkative.

    

We are so excited for this little girl to start school. Even though it is bittersweet for us to see her so big and independent, we are so proud of her!
 
Henry met his teachers this morning and enjoyed seeing his classroom. He has a staggered start so he goes once this week and starts next week. Here is a bit of an update on him:
 
• He loves planes. He has all of a sudden taken an interest in planes and plays with his all the time.
• Such a chatter box. He loves telling stories. It always starts off with, “One time…”. Then he tells a random story.
• Becoming more and more independent. He likes getting dressed by himself but at the same time loves cuddling and being around us.
• A bit of a wrecking ball. He is sweet, sweet, kind, then finally will have a random burst of aggression. Such a boy.
• He is finally potty-trained! He was so incredibly stubborn then last week Paul finally sat with him for over an hour until he finally used the toilet. As the week went on it just clicked. YAY! I have a bit of a break!
