Nine Months

Happy nine months Henry! I failed on the sticker this month because Paul and I finally got what our kids have been battling the last few weeks. This is a kind of day where we really miss having family around. What we wouldn’t do for a day on the couch watching movies drinking tea. (Thanks Teresa for the stickers, it has been keeping Claire occupied for most the morning.) It’s been a couple rough weeks with illnesses for us. Claire had a nagging cold that finally turned into a sinus infection. Henry got his first fever with a fever rash and he was a cranky guy, not normal for him.

For our memory, here are a few things the kids have been up to the last few weeks:

  • Claire is in the question stage big time, everything that comes out of her mouth starts with: who, what, where, when. Thankfully we have yet to get to why.
  • She is extremely strong-willed right now. She only wants to wear jeans and her tennis shoes, no tights or dresses. Sometimes I can convince her, but mostly only jeans.
  • She is loving all the leaves outside; we have a TON in the backyard. ‘
  • Her favorite toys are: her stuffed Wubbzy, Lightning McQueen car, farm, kitchen for making “reckfast”, and her play computer.
  • She is finally over an anxiety phase she had for a few months where we couldn’t go anywhere public or to playdates without her wanting to be held. It was miserable for me because my arms were ready to fall off with both kids needing to be carried. She now runs away and doesn’t care where we are at parks and playgrounds. Nice, but another set of problems.
  • She loves names and finding out the names of people. Also if they are a “boy or gail”. It has resulted in calling us by our first names at times.
  • Henry is starting to try and stand by himself. He can for about two seconds.
  • He started really babbling. First with the “Dada” and now ONLY when he is upset or wants something from me, “Mama”. It’s a very sad little cry and usually he tries to crawl up my leg.
  • We are still having sleep issues with wake ups at night, he is not wanting to cooperate. At least it is mostly once now.
  • He loves swinging at the park.
  • He mimics sounds, specifically when Claire screams or yells he does the same. It took us a few times to realize it was both kids and not just Claire yelling. Pretty funny.
  • Whenever he sees any of us enter a room, the pure expression of joy he gives is awesome. Arms flap,  he shreeks, and gives us a huge smile. The best.
