Claire is FIVE!

Happy Birthday to our Claire Bear! Friday we celebrated Claire’s birthday. She has been on a countdown for the last six months so she was just a little bit excited for the actual day. She was so excited she ran into Henry’s room and woke him up. We opened her presents before she went to school and was able to Skype with Gramma and Grampa. I surprised her at school and brought cupcakes. It’s always fun to see her reaction when Paul or I visit her at school. For dinner Claire requested Chick Fil A because she loves to play in their play area (yuck). Unfortunately, Henry got a stomach bug in the afternoon so it was a special Daddy/Claire dinner date while I stayed with the sick little guy. We finished up the night with a small cake and Skyping with Meema and Boopa.

Yesterday was Claire’s birthday party. She chose BounceU again like last year. Paul had to stay home with Henry since Henry was still feeling pretty weak but at least eating. It was a nice quiet party and Claire had a blast.

It is so crazy to us to think that Claire five. It’s happened so fast. Here are a few of her habits/interests so far:

  • She is still such a talker, all the time. I was even asked by a checker at Target after hearing Claire chat away if Claire ever stopped talking.
  • Such a leader. At home, school, with friends, she definitely has the personality of taking charge. It is just a fine line between bossy and leading.
  • Rule enforcer, not necessarily a follower. (At least at home). She will be the first to correct a person, especially Henry, if a person isn’t doing the correct thing.
  • She still loves her pretend dogs, Primo and Quincy. Anything we do involves those two dogs. The kids have even fought over who is taking care of the pretend dog. Really?
  • A little swimmer. She loves her swim lessons and is doing great!
  • She has always enjoyed playing silly word games, but has now progressed to playing them herself, making rhymes and laughing at what she can make up.
  • Such a negotiator. Which is great but so incredibly frustrating. If you want her to do something in 5 minute, she responds with “How about, two.” EVERYTHING is up for negotiation. Clothes, food, time, punishment. It’s all on the table. My patience is constantly tested!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLAIRE!
