This past week was spent in Florida visiting with Paul’s family. It was my first trip there as well as the kids. We decided to drive since we have done enough airplane travel with the kids. It was great driving. It was about a 10 hour trip with stops and the kids did great. On the way down we stopped at Paul’s aunt and uncle’s home in St. Augustine. It was a nice break from the drive. They live right on the beach so we took advantage of it. It was a beautiful coastline. The kids had a great time writing in the sand and enjoying the beach.
Up next was Orlando. Paul and I went to Epcot one day without kids (thanks, Meema and Boopa!). It was fun to have a day exploring the park.
The next day was the Magic Kingdom with the kids. Claire was very excited to go and we were unsure about how she would do with rides/characters. She did great with the rides and really liked them. Henry was a little more unsure. At first both kids did not want to see or meet any characters but by the end of the day they were excited to meet some princesses. Favorite rides were: the Carousel, teacups, and for Claire, the Goofy rollercoaster. The kids did really well considering we went all day. There were some moments of tiredness but overall they did great. They loved the electrical parade in the evening and seeing all the characters. It was so much fun seeing the park through their eyes.
It was a wonderful visiting with Paul’s family. The kids loved spending time with family.
